Challenge
After utilising Reactive’s help with creating the Loads of Stone brand identity. The next task for this client was developing a fully functional ecommerce website to sell their decorative aggregates.
The client needed a solution that was cost-effective and that they could easily manage themselves. As this was a new venture – the client didn’t have any product imagery so they needed photography services to capture the full range of their gravels & aggregates products. Other bespoke website requirements was a quantity calculator (to calculate the amount of product needed to cover a specified area), and a bespoke delivery calculator that would provide different shiping rates based on weight of the product and where in the UK they would be shipped too.
SOLUTION
The first task began with market research to see what competitors where doing online and evaluate what works and what doesn’t. From here we proposed multiple paltforms for the online shop and the client chose the Shopify platform as the most cost-effective in meeting their needs.
It was then a case of implementing the brand identity (that we also created) to produce a front end which looked very distinctive, contemporary, clean, on-brand and because of its simplicity it is very user friendly.
Alongside the web-development part of the project we also carried out the product photography in-house. It was clear that the aggregates looked best in a context setting (to help customers relate more to the product) so a mini-garden was set up in our photography studio to provide these, as well as more objective images of the product too. The clean look & feel of the web site design really let the product imagery pop on the site.
Whilst the Shopify platform was used in the back-end, we did develop in-house bespoke components such as the quantity calculator, shipping selector and front-end theme.
Because of our expertise in ecomms sites we where also able to provide lots of guidance and strategy to this client who where new to the world of e-commerce, the resultof which resulted in the instant and dramatic take-off in online sales.

The site design itself is clean and simple to make it very user-friendly and easy navigate and find products of interest.
To help push and sell the product, our in-house product photography is key and features prominently on the site.
The site is very on-brand too and the Loads of Stone identity runs consistently throught the full end-to-end shopping process.

One of Reactive’s key selling points is offering a wide range of services under one roof and our in-house photography services where a key aspect of this web-project. In total over 30 decorative aggregates and gravels where photographed and used on the site as well as in other marketing channels.
BESPOKE WEB DEVELOPMENT
Due to the nature of the gravel & stone product – a key requirement was a bespoke quantity calculator for customers to understand how much product they actually require.
On top of this more compelx shipping selectors where developed to calculate delivery charges for particular product weights and different delivery locations.
